About the Free Legal Advice Group
FLAG was set up by a group of young Mills & Reeve solicitors in 2004. Their aim was to create a group which would enable young solicitors to give something back to the community.
In 2005 Lisa Bartlett was named joint winner in the Young Solicitors Group Pro Bono Award for large firms for her work in establishing and driving forward FLAG in Cambridge. Mills & Reeve's FLAG team were also named as runners up for the best pro bono team at a large firm. It is hoped that this success will increase awareness of FLAG and encourage solicitors, barristers and legal executives with a variety of specialisms in the Cambridge area to become involved.
FLAG is managed and administered by Mills & Reeve LLP. The FLAG team of advisers has rapidly expanded since its launch and now includes advisers from most of the large firms in the Cambridge region. We have over 25 advisers available for appointments every session.
FLAG is a LawWorks clinic. LawWorks is the operating name of the Solicitors Pro Bono Group - an independend charity with a mission to support, promote and encourage a commitment to pro bono across the solicitors profession. LawWorks Clinics is one of the projects run by LawWorks which aims to help advice agencies and law firms establish pro bono advice sessions.
